Fire at Canadian military base kills four people
54 minutes ago
A large fire started at a military base in Alberta, Canada, on Saturday afternoon. Strong winds moved the fire quickly across dry grass. The fire reached an area where soldiers were training with guns and other weapons. Fire crews later stopped the fire from spreading.
Four soldiers died. They were Sgt Morgan Wong, Pte Shaun Farrell, Pte Aidan Goulding and Pte Hayden Lykkemark. Another 39 people went to hospital, and at least 19 were in a very serious condition. Hospitals across Alberta are caring for them.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada was very sad about the deaths. The military said there were no signs of an attack. It is now trying to find out how the fire started. Fire and rescue teams will stay at the base because the fire could start again.
