Police arrested five men near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire early on Sunday. One of the men called 999 at 12:45 in the morning. About one hour later, a woman farmer also called police. She saw three vans and a group of men with masks near the air base.

Police arrested the five men because they thought the men might have explosives. Later, police also looked at a possible link to terrorism. They found some petrol, but they found no bombs. The men are British and are 23 to 25 years old. Police let them leave on Monday, but they must follow strict rules while police continue their work.

The United States military uses RAF Fairford. US planes have recently flown from there to the Middle East. Police are checking if another country had any link to the men. Iran says it had no link to the event. People from 85 homes had to leave on Sunday, but they can now return. Police plan to remove the last road blocks on Wednesday.
