G7 countries will release oil and diesel

The G7 countries will release up to 100 million barrels of oil and diesel. They will start now and continue for four months. They will release a large amount of diesel in the first 20 days. They want to lower high fuel prices and make sure countries have enough fuel.

The G7 includes the US, the UK, Canada, Japan, Germany, Italy, and France. The European Union also joins its meetings. US President Donald Trump had said he might stop US diesel sales to Europe. He wanted European countries to use more of their own diesel. He later said this ban was not really planned.

The countries made the decision at a G7 meeting on Friday. French President Emmanuel Macron said the plan could lower oil and diesel prices. UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said it could help families and businesses. Diesel is important for trucks and farms, so high diesel prices can also make food more expensive. The G7 may release more diesel if countries still need it.
