The Dutch central bank moved 86 tonnes of gold from the United States and Canada to London. The move happened from March to August. The bank said there is more trouble between countries now. It wants the gold to be easier to use if there is a serious crisis.

The bank moved 27 tonnes of gold bars through Zeist in the Netherlands. It moved the same amount and type of gold from there to London. For the rest, it sold gold in New York and bought gold again in London. The Bank of England now keeps the gold.

Bank president Olaf Sleijpen said the move would help the Netherlands prepare for problems. London now holds 32.1% of Dutch gold, up from 18.1%. The Netherlands still keeps 30.8% at home. At the end of 2025, the country had 612.4 tonnes of gold, worth €72.2 billion. In a future crisis, the bank may sell or use the gold in London more quickly.
