Burnham says he may disagree with Trump

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham says he will speak against US President Donald Trump if he thinks it is right for Britain. Burnham says his first talk with Trump was good and Trump was friendly. But he did not say if he trusts Trump. He says he must put Britain first.

Burnham says he was worried when Trump started a war with Iran. He says he will always say what he thinks is right. Burnham also says he wants to stay close to people in Britain and listen to them.

The UK government may raise defence spending to 3% of the country’s total income. Chancellor John Healey wants this to happen by 2030, but Burnham has not agreed to a date. The government will study how to pay for it before the budget later this year. Burnham also says there will not be an early general election. He expects the next election in 2029.
