LeBrun spoke to Minnesota lawmakers two times. She said older people should enjoy a drink together in their home. Minnesota then made a new law. The law started this month. Care homes can now give alcohol to people at special events without a permit. They must tell the state before the event.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed the law at LeBrun’s care home this week. He said older people should still enjoy birthdays, anniversaries, and time with friends. Amira Choice allows up to two drinks at events for safety. The home plans to have a big party next month, and other care homes may also start serving drinks.
