President Trump sent soldiers from California to the city of Portland. He did this because there were many protests in Portland. The governor of California, Mr. Newsom, did not agree with this. He said President Trump used the soldiers in the wrong way.

The soldiers came from the National Guard in Los Angeles. They first went to Los Angeles because there were protests there. Now, President Trump sent them to Portland. He said the soldiers are there to help the police and keep the city safe.

Many people in Portland and other cities do not like this. They say President Trump is using the army to stop people from protesting. Some leaders in other cities, like Chicago, also do not agree with President Trump. They think sending soldiers will make the protests worse.
