Saudi Arabia closed an important oil pipeline on Friday after drones attacked it. The drones came from Maysan, an area in Iraq near Iran. The attack hurt some people and damaged the area. Saudi Arabia closed the 1,200 km pipeline to keep it safe.

The pipeline carries about 4% to 5% of the world’s oil. It lets Saudi Arabia send oil without using the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow sea route near Iran. Iraq removed a military leader from his job and started an investigation. Saudi Arabia said it will not attack Iraq now, but it may act later to protect its people and oil sites.

The attack happened during the seventh month of the war between the United States and Iran. In Yemen, the Iran-backed Houthi group has also taken much of the coast. The group says it controls the Bab al-Mandab Strait, another key sea route for ships. These events have made oil transport harder, and oil prices have risen above $100 a barrel.
