US President Donald Trump changed planes after a NATO meeting in Ankara, Turkey, on 8 July. He said the Secret Service and the military told him to use another plane. US officials had found a possible threat from Iran. They believed someone near the meeting may have had a small missile that a person can carry and fire.

Trump first walked onto the main Air Force One plane. He then left it in secret and travelled in a food truck to a smaller US military plane. Reporters, government workers, and some senior officials stayed on the first plane. They did not know that Trump had changed planes. The first plane still used the name “Air Force One” to hide the change.

Trump said he often gets threats and follows orders from his security team. Some people asked if the passengers on the first plane were in danger. A group that supports reporters said the government should tell them about serious threats. US officials may now face more questions about the plan and the safety of everyone on both planes.
