Trump says US voting systems are not safe

US President Donald Trump spoke at the White House on Thursday. He said China tried to help Joe Biden win the 2020 election. He also said US voting systems have serious safety problems. Trump said China got personal information about 220 million voters. He did not show proof that China changed votes or election results.
US intelligence groups said China did not try to change the 2020 election result. China also said it has never tried to change a US presidential election. Trump said Russia, China, and Iran could attack US voting machines. He also said 278,000 people who are not US citizens had signed up to vote. He did not say if these people voted.
The speech came three months before the November midterm elections. These elections will decide which party controls Congress. Democrats said Trump wants people to stop trusting elections. Trump asked Congress to pass the SAVE America Act. The law would stop most voting by mail and require proof of US citizenship and photo ID, but the Senate has not passed it.
