A large fire started at the Eagle’s Nest in Bavaria, southern Germany, on Friday night. Fire services got the alarm at 9:15 p.m. About 200 emergency workers went to the building. No one was hurt.
The building is high in the mountains near Berchtesgaden. The hard land made it difficult for firefighters to stop the fire. It was still burning early on Saturday. Police held one person near the fire. They will try to learn if this person started it.
The Nazis finished the Eagle’s Nest in 1938. Adolf Hitler used it for meetings during World War Two. The building was not destroyed after the war. Today, tourists visit it, and it has a restaurant. It also helps people remember the terrible acts of Hitler and the Nazis.
