A court in Egypt gave TV presenter Sarah Khalifa and 11 other people death sentences. The court said they were part of a group that brought materials into Egypt to make and sell drugs. It also said they had guns and bullets without permission. Khalifa is 39 years old. She is known for a TV show about crime. She says she did not do these things.

Police found more than 750 kilograms of drugs and materials for making drugs. The court also gave nine people life in prison. It let seven other people go free. The court first announced its decision last month. It confirmed the decision one month later, after Egypt’s top Muslim religious leader gave his view. Egyptian law asks for this step in death sentence cases.

Khalifa’s lawyer said she will ask another court to change the decision. Egypt often gives death sentences. A 2025 report from Amnesty International said Egyptian courts gave 492 death sentences that year. Egypt put 23 of those people to death. International rules say countries should only use the death penalty for the most serious crimes involving planned killing.
