A judge in Massachusetts told the jury to keep talking after six days without a decision. The jury has nine women and three men. They have talked for about 35 hours. One jury member told the judge that another member did not follow his rules about how sure the jury must be.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, is on trial for killing her three children at their home on 24 January 2023. The children were Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months old. Clancy says she killed them. Her lawyer says she was very ill after having a baby and did not know right from wrong.

Clancy’s lawyer asked Judge William Sullivan to remove the jury member. The judge said no because he could not choose a side in the jury’s talks. He told the jury that all 12 members must agree that Clancy is guilty. The court will meet again on Friday. If the jury cannot agree, the trial may end without a decision, and the state may start a new trial. If Clancy is guilty of first-degree murder, she may stay in prison for life.
