Trump threatens new taxes on Canada over wildfire smoke
2 hours ago

US President Donald Trump says he may put new taxes on goods from Canada. He is angry because smoke from Canadian wildfires is moving into US cities. He says Canada did not do enough to care for its forests. He plans to ask Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for an answer.
On Friday, about 888 wildfires were burning across Canada. Most were not under control. More than 190 fires were in Ontario. Ontario leader Doug Ford asked the US to send help to fight the fires instead of making complaints.
Canada says it works closely with the US during large fires. Canada has spent about C$12 billion on forests and fire safety. Carney says both countries must work together to protect people. The new threat may make trade problems between the US and Canada worse.
