Wife saves husband after plane window comes loose

A woman saved her husband after a window came loose on a Ryanair plane on Friday. Svetlana Grković and her husband, Ljubisa Karović, were flying from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany. Air quickly left the plane, and Ljubisa’s head and chest went outside the window. Svetlana held his legs. Two other passengers helped her pull him back inside.

Ljubisa, 61, lost consciousness three times. He hurt his hand badly and had burns. He is still in hospital and has trouble remembering the event. The plane had been in the air for about 10 minutes. It suddenly went down by 9,000 feet, or about 2,700 metres. The pilots returned to Thessaloniki and landed safely.

Some people think a part from the right engine hit the window and broke it. Investigators have not confirmed this. Greek air safety officials are studying what happened. Experts from Boeing, the United States and the European Union are also helping. They will try to find the cause of the accident.
