French President Emmanuel Macron will hold an urgent meeting on Monday. Large forest fires are moving toward Bordeaux in south-west France. The fire is about 15 km from the city, where about 850,000 people live. The mayor says there are no plans to move people out of Bordeaux now.

The fire has burned about 42,000 hectares in south-west France. More than 220,000 people have left their homes in the area. Firefighters say the fire is very hard to control because strong winds keep changing its path. Temperatures may reach 40C from Tuesday, and this may make the fire worse.

Spain is also fighting large forest fires. About 77,000 hectares have burned, and more than 90,000 people have left areas near Madrid and Ávila. Another fire near Valencia has made about 15,000 people leave their homes. Leaders in France and Spain say difficult days may come as hot and windy weather continues.
